METEOR 2000C
Solid-State Weather Radar

METEOR 2000C

The METEOR 2000C is a high-sensitive C-Band weather radar based on state-of-the-art solid-state technology. The system is specially designed for the precise quantitative evaluation of precipitation and wind fields in the mean latitude regions. The METEOR 2000C weather radar sets the benchmark in weather radar technology and cost effectiveness. The system is particularly suitable for meteorological services covering moderate distances and precipitation conditions in mid-latitude regions like Europe, North America and northern Asia.

The METEOR 2000C combines cutting-edge technologies with straightforward and reliable implementation at the performance level of legacy tube-based Klystron radars. The system is supplied with GDRX® 6 Digital Receiver & Signal Processor and the latest pulse compression technology.
Rainbow® 5, the most up-to-date radar software package for meteorological users will be provided to ensure optimum data quality. The results are accurate measurements of rain rates, precise detection of severe weather phenomena as well as tracking and nowcasting of such events.

METEOR 2000C Highlights

The METEOR 2000C is a high-end Dual-Polarization Doppler weather radar featuring state-of-the-art solid-state technology with configurable transmitter power levels. The system is flexible in design and performance and provides 24/7 access to maintain the transceiver. The radar is designed to overcome SNR reduction in blind range and ensures short pulse blind range recovery. Due to a maintenance-friendly cabinet installation of the transceiver components, which are separated from the antenna, a radome climatization is not required. Apart from the new installation of a complete solid-state C-Band weather radar system, METEOR 2000C is also the perfect choice for SSTX upgrades of already deployed C-Band Magnetron or Klystron weather radars: The system design is fully upward compatible with the wide-spread and field-proven tube-based radar designs from Leonardo, facilitating easy and straightforward upgrades of legacy tube radars to solid-state at a latter point in time.
