Operating in the S-band frequency range, the METEOR 2000S is ideally suited for areas experiencing frequent heavy rainfall, thunderstorms, tropical weather systems, and severe precipitation events, where attenuation by intervening heavy rainfall impedes the precise measurement of precipitation. The longer S-band wavelength significantly reduces signal attenuation caused by intense rain, compared with the C- or even X-band frequency range. Consequently, allowing the radar to maintain excellent precipitation measurement even when weather conditions become extreme.

Solid-State Weather Radar
METEOR 2000S
The METEOR 2000S is a next-generation solid-state S-band weather radar designed for reliable, long-range meteorological surveillance in the world's most demanding weather environments. Combining well known LEONARDO weather radar technology with a modern solid-state transmitter, the system is capable of delivering continuous weather monitoring capabilities for precise and timely weather intelligence.
Solid-State S-Band Weather Radar System
At the heart of the METEOR 2000S is a modern solid-state transmitter architecture that offers substantial operational advantages paired with the field proven GDRX® 6 Digital Receiver & Signal Processor and the latest pulse compression technology. The solid-state transmitter technology utilizes highly reliable semiconductor power amplifier modules that operate in parallel, creating a configurable transmitter design with inherent redundancy and graceful degradation characteristics resulting in a high operational availability, reduced maintenance requirements, and a long system lifetime.
METEOR 2000S Highlights
The METEOR 2000S is a high-end Dual-Polarization Doppler weather radar featuring a fully coherent solid-state design and supports advanced pulse generation and waveform flexibility. Rainbow® 7, the most up-to-date radar software package for meteorological users will be provided to ensure optimum data quality.
Excellent phase stability and pulse-to-pulse consistency contribute to enhanced clutter suppression, improved precipitation estimation, and more accurate detection of severe weather signatures. Due to a maintenance-friendly cabinet installation of the transceiver components, which are separated from the antenna, an active radome climatization is not required. Apart from the new installation of a complete solid-state S-band weather radar system, METEOR 2000S is also the perfect choice for SSTX upgrades of already deployed S-band Magnetron or Klystron weather radars.
The METEOR 2000S represents the next generation of solid-state weather radar technology, delivering the reliability, coverage, and performance required for today's most demanding weather surveillance missions.
